The Borderlands 5G Innovation Region (5GIR) Programme is a DSIT-funded initiative bringing advanced wireless connectivity to rural and remote communities across the England–Scotland border, with AWTG serving as the Technology and Delivery Partner.

CORE HDD is an award winning DSIT-funded initiative led by AWTG to develop, trial, and optimise Open RAN-based 5G networks in high-demand urban environments, with a focus on real-world deployment, performance, and scalability.

England’s Connected Heartland (ECH) is a pioneering 5G Innovation Region uniting local authorities, academia, and industry partners across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Central Bedfordshire, and Cambridgeshire to accelerate the adoption of advanced wireless connectivity and unlock regional economic growth.

Flex-5G is a DSIT-backed innovation project that advanced Open RAN compliance and modular 5G deployment, with AWTG leading the integration of adaptable, software-defined network solutions to support scalable private and public sector applications.

Flexi-DAS is a UK-led project focused on developing energy-efficient Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), integrating AI and Open RAN technologies to deliver flexible, cost-effective, and scalable 5G coverage solutions.

HiPer-RAN is a £7.8M DSIT-funded initiative, led by the University of Surrey with AWTG as a key partner, focused on building a secure, intelligent, and high-performance Open RAN platform with system-wide AI automation and energy efficiency.

SCONDA is a DSIT-funded consortium led by AWTG, dedicated to advancing Open RAN small cells and intelligent network analytics for more efficient, flexible, and data-driven wireless networks across the UK.

The SPIRIT Project explores the future of telepresence. It is about transforming how people and machines interact across distance through ultra-low-latency, high-quality immersive technologies. 

The TUDOR Project is an ambitious research programme aiming to solve many societal, environmental and economic grand challenges such as the digital divide and energy efficiency.
